I don't know whose idea was to re-run it on some channel in summer 2003 or maybe winter after, but the guy has a virtual beer from me, though I'm taking that beer back for having the three most important scenes cut out. (and yes I remembered exactly which and when, although I haven't seen the movie since about '72)
The formation of M & M corporation in the movie made it pure bad SF - science in case being the political science, and... well, bad SF is the one which comes back to bite your donkey and yell "what did I say, eh?".
The only detail where Heller missed it was in the name of the corporation. M & M makes candy. But then even if The Corporation wanted to use the name, it was already taken - but I guess they'd take just about any other name, just to prove that Heller was wrong there (and then, somehow, it would follow that he was completely wrong).
