>Don't you have a tv in your room with cable? Or is the tv room for visitors? Whenever I am waiting in the Drs office it drives me nuts to have to watch what is on the tv. Yesterday it was CBS soaps of all things! I think in most places the receptionist gets to pick and leaves it there unless someone complains. Last time I was at the Drs it was CNN news, and the time before that it was cartoon network. All the same I guess... :o)

I do have a TV by my bed, but it's pretty much only turned on for basketball games. The TV room is just a big room with a few tables, a lot of chairs, some games etc, and a TV. Patients and family can go there to chat etc. I think it's mostly used by patients who are not in private rooms. It's a pretty large room and the chairs look comfortable. As for the TV, anybody can turn it on and watch whatever they want. 1st come, 1st serve.

When I moved back to Toronto many years ago, I stayed with my brother and sister-in-law for about a month while I was looking for and finalising buying my house. They used to tape soaps during the day to watch in the evening. They gave me the old saw about, "if you watch for 2 weeks, you'll be hooked". I watched. It was a lie.

>>I agree with you to the extent that I would not insult someone for watching those shows, but I do reserve the right to 'insult' the shows themselves.
>>
>>There is a TV room here in the hospital, and whenever I wheel by there, I see people watching stuff like 'divorce court'. I don't know the people, so I'll remain silent about them, but 'divorce court'? Crap!
>>
>>>>>>What amazes me most Peter is the fact that you find the time to watch stupid games like those (yes i looked up what it was all about)

>>>>Disdaining a show with a skill and suspense level right up there with coin flipping is 'intellectual snobbery'?
>>>
>>>Nope......But insulting somebody for watching that show meets my definition of intellectual snobbery.

>>>>Man, you really set the bar high <bg>
>>>
>>>I see the grin but I want to make a serious point. I actually don't set a bar at all.
>>>
>>>I don't understand why but there are actually some people in this world who actually like to watch ballet (and pay lots of money for the privelege).
>>>
>>>I don't understand why but there are actually some people in this world who think a 10-8 baseball game is more exciting than a 1-0 game.

>>>I don't understand why but there are actually some people in this world who enjoy things that I think are silly, inane, etc.

>>>But I won't insult anybody for having tastes that don't match my own.
