>>Talking about lights and LEDs: Notice how many flashlights and those "head-lights" feature powerful LEDs nowadays. In order to look modern nowadays house have to have those halogen lights, but I find them a PITA as they keep blowing (AND give off so much heat) and are dear to replace. Recently, in an electrical wholesalers, I noticed some LED lights in the same housings as the halogen. I asked the guy how long they last in comparison. He said like forever. I forgot to ask if they can be put in existing halogen set-ups. Anyone know?

>Does anyone care? Lose the halogen. I got a couple for $15 each, used them for a few months for some inhouse picture-taking and then just went back to neons - far easier to balance.

What do you mean "Does anyone care?"? That's the very reason why I'm asking, as my words make clear, I would like to lose the halogens. But i need to know if they're compatible with the halogen fittings. For instance, are the LEDs stepped down in the same way.

And neons? I've never knowingly seen them as a light source over here, except in the coloured advertising signs, and as flashy decor.

>The expensive part on the halogen is the bulb, and the heat resistant protective glass. The rest is just unnecessary ;).

>If you can fit the LEDs inside the box, just do it.
