Because you do not watch the advertisement they think there must be something wrong with them (well we know there is something wrong with them, but in this case I meant them the commercials), so they pay more consultants, psychologists, and researchers to see what was wrong, which ultimately leads to more expensive advertisement that you continue to ignore, repeating the cycle. Had you watched the commercials in the first place instead of throwing them into the garbage, or muting them etc, commercials wouldn't be as catchy and as frequent as they are and the products I buy would be cheaper. THANK YOU SIR!

So no matter that I'm not watching them, am shaking the inserts out of the magazines without even looking, am passing all the junk mail to recycling with less than five minutes of consideration (per pound of paper), am not listening to commercial radio at all - no matter what, I'm still paying for all that crap because that crap still works. Because people are buying stuff based on advertising. The higher the cost of advertising, the higher the price of the product; if it's still cheap enough, they must have saved on something - probably quality, or salaries, or benefits, or retirements, or taxes...
