Except that exit polls showed that Nader got votes from both major parties as well as independents. Of course, exit polls also showed that the entire country voted Democratic in 2004 and you saw how accurate that was... :o)

All six (or whatever) electoral college votes graduate to GOP because of this. The underlying assumption is that a GOP voter wouldn't vote for Nader even at gunpoint, so this 1.3% would have rightfully belonged to Dems... in case the only alternative was GOP. Had people had more choice, they'd lose.
