Dont know if this will solve, but i had a similar problem. Test please if you can in develop mode 'saveas' the document but not in exe mode. If yes you must install the Office 'Service Release 1' and all will work. If you have installed W98 then to install the SR1 you must to uninstall office and then reinstall it and then install SR1.
