Actually alt+prtScr invokes the same system service that probably a few of the others do, but you have to take it from there into any app capable of taking a bitmap from the clipboard and doing something with it. IMO, any text processor, HTML editor or email client should be able to do that nowadays. It's more a matter of what you can do with the resulting map afterwards.
Since this is a screenshot, I don't need the shaders, color balancers and other gadgets a photo bitmap may require, but I need a good cropping tool, and callouts, text in squares, arrows etc, which would live in a separate layer (so if I update the underlying app, I can substitute the shot but not have to do all of the callouts again).
I'm using SnagIt because it's already on team's server. For my own, alt+ptrsc and OpenOffice with some cropping once there. When I needed to do that programmatically (and a lot), I used George Taskers obj2bmp.
And let's not forget that there's a "if no report defined for this form, print a screenshot" by VFE, which uses some neat API trick. Don't remember how they do it, but I can look it up, should be somewhere in one of the stacks of old backups :).
