>I checked it and sent you a response an hour or so ago.

Did you send it to the mvps.org email? I've been losing quite a bit there lately. The SPAM there has been overwhelming.

Housing of course is affecting my company (for whom I work). We create wire. Our business is not only down, but it is WAY DOWN. Yet, another friend who does tool and die work with Numerical Control machines has so much business he can hardly stand it.

>As long as my company stays in business, I'll be developing software for them, but,...let's hope our economy picks up. I am losing hope fast due to the excessive spending on both sides of the US House and Senate. We have had two bubbles blow up on us now, one being technology (DOT COM) and the other Housing.

Things are down here, too, but it's mainly housing.

>In the past, our country has used WAR to get things going again, if you look at historical trends. From the Great Depression into World War II.

That used to work in the past, where the probable primary benefit was the temporary reduction in available workers. If the economy was boosted significantly enough, it could absorb the returning soldiers without much problem. There are now many other factors at work, all of which work against the economy being resilient enough to handle much smaller "bumps".
