It tickles me that you guys call it euphemistically a restroom. "My God, I shouldn't have eaten that curry last night; I'm dying for a good rest"

Or bathroom. Who takes a bath in a restaurant!?

BTW, here in posh society one calls it the lavatory (LAV-a-t'ry) and they look down on those who call it toilet (a pure give-away of class).

>Until it dawned on me that you were using the European term toilet to refer to the restroom (or bathroom), the image you described was rather interesting. :o) I haven't been to Europe for a few years and I've grown accustomed to toilet referring only to the fixture.

>>>BTW, i presume you mean the ones that take a wee while to actually come on, and that don't yield all their light straight away - a bit dim but then, imperceptibly get up to their working brightness.

>>A friend of mine installed only those, such as were available, in his toilet back in 1991. They took 2-3 seconds to come up. The tiles were brown and the porcelain was caramel color, so you couldn't really aim under the bits of street light that may sneak in... at some crucial moments it was almost a proof of the relativity of time. Those two seconds must have stretched significantly.
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
