>>>>But of course the real moment when Britain won the war was when Churchill came out of that meeting with Halifax and Chamberlain as PM.
>>>
>>>Thats got to be one of the key moments in recent history. If it had gone the other way and Halifax became PM I think you are right and Britain would have come to an deal with the Nazis and history would have been very different . Still might have ended with the Soviets defeating the Nazis but then dominating all of Europe.

>>>Anyway enough of this historical speculation I'm off to watch my recordings of Deal or No Deal. :-)

>>I am waiting for the Gold DVD collectors edition. I prefer to experience the drama in its entirety without commercial interruption and especially with the DVD extras : "Deal or No Deal Strategies" and "The Wit and Wisdom of Howie Mandel"

>"Deal or no Deal strategies" Hmmmmm. Now if no-one has won a big prize for a while how does that affect your chances and you decision making.
>
>Who is Howie Mandel ?

Who is Howie Mandel ?!?!? None other than the charismatic host and dramatic deliverer of the euponymous catch-phrase ! ( and in a previous, more hirsute, incarnation a remarkably unimportant standup comic )

Well, obviously if no one has won a big prize for a while the next guy's chances are incredibly good, very much as flipping a coin and getting heads 49 times in a row virtually assures that the next flip will be tails <bg>

Now if you will excuse me, i must get back to finishing my book on "Strategies for winning the Lottery"

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
