>>Is there a common technique for generating printed reports from a web app? Would it be best to generate an html page and let the user simply print the page? or is it possible to automate Word and Excel and use them as the report engine? What about running a VFP report? Would this require a COM dll?

The best part is that neither of these engines require a 'phantom printer definition' on the web server - which is a permissions nightmare. They both write the PDFs directly without an intermediate printer definition.

Thanks Michael.
I found XFRX on the web but could not find MERE. Do you have a link for it? Also can you tell me a little about how these work? I am building a web app which so far has no foxcode except a few stored procedures in the fox database. If I were to use either of these products would I need to create a fox DLL or could the fox.frx files reside independantly on the server and be called from either the asp page or a stored procedure? Also, how do you get the PDF back to the user? Does it just appear in a browser tab? etc.

Thanks again. This may be my best lead thus far.
