But then you can check the generated code for your menu (extension .spr) and see what sort of name applies to what.

Anywhere. Doesn't really matter, the menu is equally visible from anywhere. You put the code where you need it (and where you'll be able to find it when you need it).

I've never really used startup/cleanup code, because I was using my own data driven menus since '92. Same goes for most of the genmenu.prg's capabilities, just don't know.
