We typically don't use Grids, but I recently had to creat a custom grid for some very complicated stuff that we decided to add to our app(took me probably at least a month to do).

I created Custom columns, properties on those custom columns and it's all set in code, not the designer.

I am using DataGrid, not the new (to 2.0) DataGridView.
