You were right. Using a linked server approach to do this entire import is much better. I can control everything. I have found that the way the Integration Services Project work is not exactly what I need. I can have a program in VFP to create the entire script based on my VFP data dictionary, which will take care of creating the structure, inserting the record as is, adjusting the design after to have the identify field, etc. And, using that approach, there is no deleted records.
