Hi Simon,

Sorry I'm a bit late with this.... and it may be a red-herring to boot:

I run Vista on a laptop with a Turion 64X2 (don't remember MIPS) and 2GB RAM and ATI Radeon X1600 (256MB) and VFP SP1.

I have not noticed any speed issues, but I also have a 4GB USB2 stick permanently attached and identified to Vista as a 'readyboost' item. I have no idea if it is making any difference, but thought it worth mentioning.
