It's a serious neurological condition that involves "tics," which can be anything from a tiny involuntary movement to uncontrolled utterances. For most, the condition can be managed with a combination of medication and training. But it's not an easy thing to live with.

Then I'm surprised that you use the term so loosely. I watch my nephew struggling valiantly to fit in and to manage his behavior and I curse the fool TV and movie writers who've popularized this idea that all Tourette's is is random profanity.
