The initiator of a thread is not a good choice for a moderator, by very virtue of having a stake in the dispute.
I'm all for getting back to normal. If we generally agree there should be moderators, OK. Just saying that those directly involved aren't a smart choice. We need some neutrality. Of course, I'd love to have a moderator who can sleep all day because there's nothing to do :).
