AFAIK default is case insensitive. However, when I tried to install SQL Server 2005 (at if I recall correctly the same happens with SQL 2000) it offers me collation Russian by default. I have no idea why it made this decision, because I have Windows XP English and only have Russian installed as a second language.

And even more strange and annoying, one UML program I installed, decided that I need an interface in Russian. That was so inconvenient! :(
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
