The messages on eeeuser.com seemed to be discussing paying sms charges.

Most or all of the mobile carriers have an email gateway that you can send to for free,
IF you know who the carrier is.
I may have jumped to conclusions, but I thought that was why he wanted to resolve who the carrier is.

I have emailed SMS messages before, and I seem to recall even getting replies through the email.

SMS certainly opens up a HUGE amount of connectivity for us as developers!
