I believe it's because so many are convinced that SP-only is the only way to go and that dynamic sql is slow, dangerous or some other misconception.

Agreed- it seems that some of those who regard themselves as the "scientists" of the IT professions are just rote learners. Question what it says in the vendor's text and you get "the treatment." That's one of the things I like about UT: it's great to talk about some of this stuff without the usual flame bullies and know-alls stomping every nascent discussion.
