John, in some instances, I've converted VFP modules to .NET in less time, in the same time, and in more time than the original ones were quoted as taking. It all depends on what the objectives were. Getting it down to the hour or even the day is implying a level of accuracy that doesn't exist.

I believe you. But what does that have to do with somebody else's experience which according to you and Woodie, is a "myth"? Are you saying that only your experience is valid? To recap: I've never, ever seen anybody call you, JB or Woodie a liar or zealot because they don't like the experience you're describing. But it *does* happen in the other direction.

But I've seen .NET talent out there that can surely build components in at least the same amount of time as a top-notched VFP developer

"At least", you say? ;-) But I know what you mean and I'm sure that's true as well. But please see above. And please consider that nobody has experienced every possible industry or business need, which means that nobody is competent to issue blanket assertions about the realities of everybody else's professional career. IMHO attacking somebody because you don't like their story is exactly the sort of disrespect that Michel says needs to be eliminated from UT. You guys may like to pretend that you're the target of such behavior but you only have to read this thread to see that it's the other way around.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
