>This thread is deteriorating into non-technical matters. The color you prefer for your socks is the same as the preference for tabs/spaces/indenting. There is some value in some indenting, but good things can be carried too far, especially by those with "authority". There should be guidelines, not laws. What happens when the original programmer leaves. Now his personal preferences stay in effect? That's nuts. Thankfully I don't enforce my "style" on anybody.
Being an independent makes me dependent on various styles - one per project, pretty much. Since these are stored in foxuser files, every project gets to have one, so whatever the leader of the project wants (it's me as often as not, and I'm also as quirky as they come :) within the limits of what beautifier can do. In one project, it's spaces, keywords lowercase. In another, tabs are fine, keywords uppercase. In yet another, it was unindented case statements.
The only thing I'm not giving in on is indenting comments. My comments remain unindented until someone fixes the VFP's rightclick menu to be able to uncomment indented comments. Just try it: select, say, six lines, rightclick, comment. Then select them again, rightclick, uncomment. Now repeat this with the commented lines indented. Won't work.
