I am reposting this (from 03/04/2008) because I had a misleading title.

I am monitering the network traffic when I open a view versus when I execute the underlying SQL. I find that the SQL SELECT taxes the network <5% while opening the view records under 50%. I get the SQL statement from GENDBC so I am confident that's the view's code. The SELECT statement for the view is:

SELECT ManifestHdr.dManifest, ManifestHdr.lOpen, ManifestHdr.iQty,;
COUNT(ManifestDtl.iPk) AS nScanned, ManifestHdr.iPk,
Manifesthdr.iFkSystems;
FROM SN!ManifestHdr;
LEFT OUTER JOIN SN!ManifestGrp;
ON ManifestGrp.iFkManHdr = ManifestHdr.iPk;
LEFT OUTER JOIN SN!ManifestDtl;
ON ManifestDtl.iFkManGrp = ManifestGrp.iPk;
WHERE ManifestHdr.iFkSystems = ?vp_ManifestHdr_iFkSystems;
GROUP BY ManifestHdr.iPk;
ORDER BY ManifestHdr.dManifest

Any ideas why this is?
