John, I've only been writing for CoDe since 2004, but in looking at the early issues of CoDe (going back to 2000), I don't see how anyone can think it was a "VFP-specific magazine." It's always been a magazine about building components.
As I look back at the first few issues in 2000, they had topics such as:
COM + Events, XML Messaging, DNA Patterns, Web Server Stress Testing, Visual FoxPro String Performance , Windows Scripting Host, Queued Components , Visual FoxPro 7.0, Network Load Balancing, Server Side XSL, BizTalk Server 2000,
SQL Server 2000 XML, Dynamic Queries in Internet Applications , Event News , Customers vs. Code: Keeping Your Cool with the Essential Component, Thinking about Web Services
For about a year or two after that, it was a combination of articles on SOAP, moving from ASP to ASP.NET, etc. Sure, there were some VFP articles. But articles on many other topics as well.
