But I'm not convinced people want just VFP content- people are interested in SPs in MS SQL and/or XML or other transport mechanisms, security, interoperability with VS2008... lots of general topics are relevant to this audience.

That's true...and CoDe has done three free CoDeFocus issues (2003, 2004, and early 2007) on different versions of VFP and many of these topics as they related to VFP. All three were very very good.
