>The reason I want to know because I have a form in the application does update for tables and exe from an ftp server. When the end user clicks on the update button, the code compares the local exe date with the new ftp exe date that has the fixes. If the ftp exe is newer than local exe, the form automatically download the new exe to a temp directory, then closes application, overwrites the old exe, then runs the new exe. The problem that I have if another workstation has the old exe open, then I will have a problem copying the new exe from the temp directory to overwrite the old exe.

If you're doing all of that, don't copy the new exe to the server. Copy it to the PC of the user that launched. Then you never need to know who is running the exe.
