On work we have DSL what is resumable but argh 111,176 is far away 484 upstream!. ISDN much slower. In there is no flatrate on it, the telefon carrier sell dsl flat only. So I need much longer for anything and pay even more! I feel your problem is something we would call "wail on high level" (Jammern auf hohem Niveau).
Anyway I feel with you. Do you have a choices to switch the provider?

>I guess I should feel better (by comparison)? Or is it the 'you don't know how good you have it until it's gone?' Or those who don't have it (and never did) don't know what they're missing? :o) Ok, I give up. Tell the tale... :o)

>>>I was tootling along at speeds of 111,167 kbs on a regular basis. Then my cablemodem went out and I had to call Time Warner for a new one. The tech who brought it out just happened to be someone I know. While we plugged it in, he informed me that I would no longer be experiencing my blazingly fast broadband speed. Time Warner was cutting down on the broadband usage (hoping to deter movie downloads to pcs) and had programmed the boxes to 5000kbs. For 10.00/mth more you can now purchase Turbo Broadband which guarantees up to 8000kbs! Sheesh! I tested my speed to multiple sites using a few different tools and I'm only averaging 7348kbs/484kbs now! That's with the turbo! I asked him if I could have an older box instead of a new one (hey I'll take a used one), but they are not allowed to use them anymore since they don't have the filter. Worse yet, Time Warner now monitors broadband usage (so they can charge you if the data is too excessive for typical home usage) and
>also
>>>polls monthly to check the speed setting filter on the boxes remotely (get my drift)...
