It wasn't his job to find that person, though he did make an effort to identify people who might be willing to take it on.

Tamar, an editor-in-chief is absolutely responsible for finding/recommending a replacement. When Bob Grommes stepped down in the mid-90's, he recommended Whil/JVP. Given Whil's length of service at FT, that emphasizes the responsibility even more.

Whil felt (and continues to feel) a huge responsibility for the VFP community.

I'll ask you the same question I asked Craig - in the last year or so, what has Whil done for the community outside of commercial ventures? In other words, has he done anything essentially for free?

Yet he still gets flak for giving it up. Unbelievable.

And JVP gets flak for statements not unlike what Whil has said. Unbelievable.

If you really think it was Whil leaving FoxTalk that led to Pinnacle being sold (again, if I recall correctly), you're way overestimating Whil's importance and FoxTalk's importance in the Pinnacle world.

No one has answered my question - had the EULA thing not happened, would Whil have taken the course that he did?
