I think mainly because a lot of them in the US had or have moderated their views and find infidels to be not so bad.

Also because the US has stepped up security and monitoring on EVERYONE (to be politically correct - make sure the 5th generation American grandma isn't wearing a suicide vest). Of course then Americans complain about rights and privacy and on and on, but it's either watch EVERYONE, watch groups likely to be or aid terrorists (the Canadians..er .. no the Polish .. er .. no the Indians .. er .. no .. uhh.. what groups comit terrorist acts on western nations lately..?), or just clean up the bodies and blame Bush one way or another.
