I saw something that surprised me greatly at the time, but made more sense to me on reflection...

*After* Senator Obama won Iowa lots of Blacks interviewed by news outlets had basically the same response when asked if they planned to vote for the Senator. Along the lines of 'I wasn't planning to, but it now looks like he may have a real chance'. I *guess* they assumed the system would be rigged against him and the Iowa win suggested possibly otherwise.

I'm still not so sure this is correct. The older part may be, but I suspect JFK had more legislative experience.
