BTW I am absolutely for the US and other western nations doubling/tripling taxes on foreign oil to drop demand and using those taxes for manhattan style projects (projects NOT given to oil companies like is done now) to bring renewable and nuclear energy sources up to the point where we can stop using oil altogether.

If this means subsidizing automobile purchasers with perhaps half the cost of purchasing electric vehicles (which would easily bring electrical vehicles into line with current gas vehicles) for the next decade or 2, fine. This is a strategic necessity, not a convenience.

Stop the dollars from going to terrorists. Those countries will dry up and move back to the 10th century where they were 50 years ago and will no longer be a threat.
