Mike,
>Congrats on the Eagle Scout. That is no small task and something to be really proud of.
Thanks. I feel like I earned it right along with my son, but he's the only one who gets the badge. Actually, I'm quite proud of him for how he handled the planning and execution of this project and what he learned in the process.
Because of a zoning issue with the new property his school was going to purchase, he had to rework his project plans to instead do something at the current location and do it in a way that it can be moved to the new location later.
He finally settled on building four very nice cedar benches and a large cedar planter, with beautiful signs on the planter sides containing the school motto and other positive messages. He raised the money selling some of my old photo equipment through my EBay account and involved kids from school in a car wash. He then recruited 16 workers from among his Scout friends to cut the wood and build and sand the items. He and I then sucked fumes in the garage until after midnight applying the sealer the day before his delivery deadline. We were both delirious with delight to get it completed. :-)
