I don't think you can port over an existing number (yet). I think they have a pool of numbers to pick from. There was a state and area code selection (I chose the location my mom lives in instead of my state and area code) so the number would not be long distance for her to call. You can pick any state and area code they have numbers for. I think they purchased a pool...
