Never had problems with TS on 2003, it works very well. What OS are you using and is the "other" computer running TS as well.
Have set a temp directory for each user.

All of a sudden I'm having index problems. (not corruption) simply seeking and not finding or finding and displaying the wrong thing. Even after rebulding the index files the problem still exist.
