Alexander,

You may consider it as a syntax for communication between VFP and Excel COM.
Keep in mind that VFP array, and Excel Range.Value are arrays, but they are constructed differently. For instance, VFP array is always one-dimensional array internally, no matter whether you declare it with columns or not.
