There will always be needs to get support. From one product to another, we learn new things, migrate our data, code and such. I have been into that issue for four years now. We are talking about a very big framework, new ways of accessing the data, learning SQL Server, ASP.NET, VB.NET, think about VFP in a universal way so it would be SQL ANSI compliant to help us move to other backends and such. Yes, it is true. VFP was and still is a great product. I also heard on a phone call I had last week that it is going strong in India where people are learning it in educational institutions. And, for its support, there will be need to continue hosting this forum for additional years as there are still a lot of existing applications that need to be supported, enhanced or upscaled to something else.

Each environment has its goods and its bads. There are things we can do in VFP that we cannot do elsewhere or that it is much more complicated to do. I still work with several environments because this is where we are today.

About the moderators, I do appreciate the suggestion and this is something we would have to think about. But, this site is commercial. So, not everything that applies elsewhere could apply here. There are considerations that we need to think about. But, I have seen an increase of technical content recently in a professional environment that is more friendly than what it used to be for a few weeks recently. This is how many of us are seeing this Web site and this is how it should remain. If that requires the addition of moderators, if possible, to preserve that peaceful environment, then we would consider it. But, we have to realize that this is not something that happens every week. I think we have to go back two years since the last situation we had like that on the site, and as I mentioned this weekend, those are usually isolated situations.

For me, the participation I do on this site varies based on several factors. When I am involved in some projects, I have less time to participate. Recently, I have posted many questions in the SQL Server forum, among others, where I have received some great help. For that part, I was involved in a migration preparation and this involves a lot of verifications to do. But, when I have the time, I like to read the threads in the .NET forum, among other forums, and see if I can provide some help here and there. I do remember that many persons helped me so far on this site and when I can, I will do my best to help in return.
