For what? Private companies still salivate over government contracts and will spend the money in R&D to obtain said contracts. Colleges and Universities will still give parts of their souls for government research grants.
I'd be happy if Obama would return half of the benefits to the military that the Bush crew has stripped in the name of 'saving tax dollars'.
I'd be happy if the Bush crew could be held responsible for the
BILLIONS of dollars that have been 'lost' due to contractor malfeasance in Iraq.
>>I disagree. The R&D will still continue, but in the private and collegiate (sp?) sectors.

>>>He was talking about R&D - the stuff that allowed the US military to roll over all the toys (purchased from Russia, China, Germany, etc) any of the countries in the mideast tried to throw at us over the last 3 decades. Russia, China, N. Korea, Iran, and other minor players are doing R&D and producing modern weapons that will (and in some cases can already) get the upper hand in a fight over our military. It takes years or decades to come up with and develop usable new technologies. If Obama hamstrings our military we will suffer - likely in catastrophic ways.
