It does appear that some just want to use online forums as a crutch. And blogs like Andy's want to take that crutch away.

There are times when that sort of critch is really needed. As I said earlier, every language has its own set of undocumented quirks. For these things, the help file is less than helpful because learning these quirks depends upon experience.

INHO, Andy's blog was about trying to make people more self-reliant and at least take a peek at the help file before posting a question. In the long run, using the resources available to us before posting questions may speed our development. We may find the answer immediately instead of having to post a question and then wait for an indeterminate length of time for a response which may or may not be the solution to the problem.
