What better way of stimulating the economy than spending money on unnecessary things? (well, I personally do not find it unnecessary thou, I love mine <g>)
Furthermore, once you have it you start buying/renting HD movies you already watched, just to experience them in HD (I know this from personal experience) stimulating the economy even more <g>
