If one does not have the discipline to seek answers out for oneself, then the question may never be answered. Of course, there is the benefit that the questioner may find the solution that no one else could provide and be able to provide the answer the next time someone else posts a similar question.

To add to this thread-drift, one of the things that drives me up the wall is when people post a question and subsequent to that find an answer on their own, but don't update or reply to their post that they found an answer. This causes problems for two reasons:

1) Someone may be taking a lot of their time to post an answer to the OP, when he/she has already got one.
2) If the post is never answered, someone doing searches who finds the question won't benefit from the answerr that the OP already found but didn't bother to post.
