Does anyone just happen to know anything about the system that sends the song artist and name over the airwaves so they can be displayed on a radio designed to receive that info?

Recently I got a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and it has a radio that does this. However, I noticed right away that it seems to be poorly designed. The problem is that there are two lines to display the data. If you have an artist/title that are long followed by an artist/title that is shorter, the last part of the previous song still displays. In other words, it's not 1) clear the display and 2) display the new artist/title, it's just 1) display the new artist/title and that's it. Kind of lame. I'm not sure where this data is drawn from. Are they suppossed to transmit a bunch of spaces at the end to clear displays? That would be kind of lame, too.

Doubly weird is that there is a smaller dislay area and that also displays that info but it has to display a little bit at a time, so it kind of "scrolls" past (though it's not really scrolling). The other day it was displaying one artist/title and the larger area was displaying a different one (I think it was the previous one and was never replaced).

Anyway, I'd been meaning to post this, but had to do it when this happened tonight: The station played "Dave Matthews Band - American Baby", so that displayed. Then for some reason, the display briefly switched to "The Police - Wrapped Around Your Finger", but that did not play and it quickly changed to "Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer", which did play. But because of the first issue I mentioned where the ending part of a longer artist/title is still visible when a shorter artist/title follows it, the display read "Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer our Finger". Ouch! <g> I'm sure if I paid closer attention I'd catch a few more choice combos. So much for high-tech!
