I have a need to monitor the status of a logical field in a table and if it switches I need to send an email. A good place to do this would be a table trigger but then I have to depend on the application object and smtp object being available and I'm not sure that it is proper to put such calls in a trigger. Is it generally acceptable to do such a thing?
