Marcia, the rumor was that both the initial letter and the follow-up email were sent by the same person- not Andy. In which case, I agree that Andy has been unfairly maligned.
FWIW, I never bought your book but did once buy one by Lisa Slater. Boy was that a book. And boy was she good at what she did. I wonder whether she can be motivated to write for Fox mags as she once did?
