How do you store custom data in SetData()?

>I am trying to do some OLE Drag and Drop, I had everything working just fine using the "text" format but then I decided to change and try and use a custom format for the data that is being passed. The only difference is when doing checking in the DragOver I am looking for the new custom format and when getting the data from the source object I am requestion the new custom format. With this new custom format it appears that the data that is returned is type "Q" or varbinary. I have used transform and also tried to "add" a string to the varbinary variable witch appears to "convert" it to a regular string by when accesed later it appears to have extra or not be a string.
