Okay, here's the deal - I've been working up a fairly simple application using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition, with SQL Server Compact Edition as a back end. So far, everything that I've coded seems to work well with one slight problem: when I shut down the debugger, all the data that I've input disappears. I've come up with a workaround (which the application needed anyway): the application now has a backup/restore to XML feature. But it would be really nice if it would actually read and write to the SQL database.

Any clues as to why data wouldn't affect the SQL back end?
