Not so much that. But one thing they seemed to focus on was poor decisions in the field that were made by rummy. Decisions that were not agreed on by other's (Powell, Rice, others). But in almost all cases they were allowed to go thru because after Powell would have a meeting with the president, cheney would go next and be the last to get the president's ear.

And they mentioned the extremely tight bond between cheney/rummy. A side story that I'm surprised hasn't been covered more is that the feeling I got from watching, and other's also from comments I've read, is that in several cases where the CIA needed military support it was not forthcoming because of rummy's hatred of the CIA. So missions, such as hunting bin laden, failed due to the lack of support.

I didn't remember another part they discussed last nite. A group was put together at the State Dept a couple weeks prior to the Iraqi invasion. They were tasked with putting together a plan for post Saddam Iraq. But rummy was able to get the group disbanded because he wanted the task handled by the pentagon.

When rummy did hire someone else, (his name escapes me, but he was basically a precursor to L Paul Bremmer), he hired several who were on the initial committee at State. But shortly after that he got a memo stating that no one who came from State was allowed to participate in anything pentagon related. So several with a lot of the required experience were replaced with people who's claim to fame was their republican party ties.

It appeared to me that this personal vendetta was allowed to continue despite the potential for loss of lives, all for the sake of personal power.

As to the balance of the show, the only other country they focused on at all was UK. Something else I wasn't aware of, initially Tony Blair was upset at the focus on Iraq.

>I missed the first part, but the second seemed to rehash some previous Frontline documentaries. Overall, I think they're excellent, but I'm not sure how balanced they are. Did they show anything about most countries believing Saddam had WMDs?
