>>>>>He has a right to say what happens with his articles. If he doesn't want the new magazine owners to capitalize on his articles, and instead wants them to be freely distributed, why shouldn't he say so?
>>>>
>>>>And why doesn't he offer them for free distribution elsewhere, and just ask that Rainer posts the location? Something like "Sorry- for subscribers only! However, this issue also contains free articles available at http:/...". Why didn't he? I think he said he doesn't have them.
>>>>
>>>>But then he mentions that Rainer doesn't have the contracts. Fine, I'm sure JVP does, and he can help the issue by offering a copy. Or does he still have them? He should, because he's using them to substantiate the lawsuit threat, if I got that part right.
>>>>
>>>>This seems like a fine way to sabotage Rainer's effort - bog him down in a nonsensical battle over articles that were published years ago, about a language which isn't even in .net (makes me wonder why does he bother at all) and have us write another hundred of useless messages.
>>>>
>>>>If there was a #directive to punish the Fox community for not collectively jumping into the dot-net boat, this would be a fitting a part of the strategy to do exactly that.
>>>
>>>I don't think your last statement is true. I don't think JVP is so petty as he would try to punish the community. I think he has beef with a certain VFP inner clique and their self-proclaimed lifetime achievement awards. Seems to me these people are the ones who are set to make money from the magazine and from JVP's material.
>>
>>John is a provoker who is apt to rattle anyone's cage. I think viewing him as some sort of Robin Hood who just goes after an evil, all-powerful inner clique is giving him more credit than he deserves. I don't like cliques, either, but John is no shining knight in armor.
>
>I never said he was - I'm just saying I don't think he would go through all this trouble just to hurt the community. I don't think of it as clique-busting either, just not wanting to help generate revenue for people he doesn't like.

Ten years old articles won't generate any revenue. He wants to hurt one person, and don't care if innocent people are hurt at the same time.
