It's really strange. I do the same as you all the time, but I have the commands in another order, maybe that's important. I always create the empty cursor in the form's load event. Later in my program I do like this:

Select whatever from mytable into cursor curDummy nofilter
Select mycursor && I only create this cursor once
Zap
Appe from dbf('curdummy')
