Responses I got pointed to cabling on the network, network transmission errors, etc. By the time I got back the original work stations, the error was no longer occurring -- This makes me think SUN SPOTS! The documentation of 11xx Read / Write error is not very complete -- what does seem to be true is that the problem is localized to the workstation ( PC ), its cabling, and its operating environment.
