It was revised in 2005. The max is now 2400:

For the first time in a decade, the SAT college entrance exam has been revised. The verbal analogy section was dropped, an essay segment was added and the math portion was changed to more closely parallel what's being taught in high schools.

...
On Saturday, more than 300,000 teenagers will sit down to take the new SAT test -- longer and more difficult than its predecessors, and for the first including a mandatory essay. The changes are making students more anxious than ever, and creating a boom for the test-preparation business

The talk at the time was that it was during the time when the new language was accepted - remember that? The poor grammar and colloquilisms that became acceptable in some neighborhoods and eventually became accepted nationwide. It was considered prejudiced to denegrate anyone who spoke other than correct grammar. That included standardized tests.

>What's the SAT max now - is that 3 scores added or two? In my day ( we took the test on clay tablets in cunieform ) 1600 was a perfect score - 2 800s - and 1400 would pretty much get you a National Merit Scholarship. I heard that they dumbed down the test in the 80s or so (I think they wanted to boost everyone's self esteem) and average scores jumped 100 points on each half from one year to the next.

>>LOL But of course! Just watched KU beat Davidson. It was quite a game.
>>
>>>Wanna bet the SAT requirement for Duke has a basektball curve ?
>>>
>>>
>>>>Just for GP, in-state tuition at UNC Chapel Hill is $3455.00 and $30194.00 at Davidson... Davidson is only uust over $26000.00 more. Davidson is just slighly cheaper than Duke (not much) and the GPA/SAT requirements are just about the same: Davidson: 1374/4.1 Duke: 1480/4.0 UNC's requirements: 1299/4.4 (Gotta be straight A in an AP program)
